Qajaqtuqtut Expedition

Eric Boomer, Katherine Breen, Eric McNair-Landry and Sarah McNair-Landry

In an effort to revive traditional Inuit kayak building, adventurers Eric Boomer, Katherine Breen and siblings Eric and Sarah McNair-Landry will paddle across Baffin island – using kayaks that they craft themselves. Throughout the two-month expedition, the team will reach out to the world through video, pictures and text updates; they’ve already held community and school events focused on the kayak. From Qikiqtarjuaq to Cape Dorset, they will pass cliff faces and Arctic vistas and deal with shifting sea ice and a magnetic island that messes with compass needles.
